LEAK LOCATE 660
The LEAK LOCATE 660 is a dust emission monitoring system designed specifically to monitor emissions from multiple outlet filter-type arrestment plant. The system incorporates a digital network of 4 to 32 sensors installed in individual chambers or compartments of bagfilter, ceramic or cartridge filter type arrestment plant, with an advanced central control unit for real-time graphical display, alarming and historical data logging. By helping to identify the location of leaking or faulty bags in specific chambers or compartments, the system pre-warns of failing or faulty bag media before the event, providing operators with greater control to reduce downtime and costs. The instruments use the same technology as in PCME's Continuous Emissions Monitors (CEMS) approved by MCERTS and TUV.

This patented ElectroDynamic™ Probe Electrification technology extracts a specific frequency band from the induced AC current signature and filters out the DC current caused by particle collisions. The technology outperforms conventional DC triboelectric systems and alternative AC systems by extending the velocity range over which the instrument has no cross sensitivity to changing velocity, and is unaffected by contamination of the sensor rod eliminating concerns of signal drift.
-
System self-checks to validate measurement integrity including automatic Zero and Span checking
-
Graphical diagnostic screens for real-time assessment of relative compartment/chamber efficiency, with pulse logger for historical analysis
-
PC-ME Dust Tools PC software option with 'Predict' functionality for enhanced broken bag detection and location
-
PLUS control unit for sensor networking (up to 32 sensor channels) via industry standard MODBUS, multiple inputs for external devices (e.g. for Temp and O2 normalisation)
The LEAK LOCATE 660 supersedes the DA660, an instrument proven in demanding CEM applications worldwide.
Leak Location Diagnostics
The PCME LEAK LOCATE 660 has the appropriate high resolution and signal to noise characteristics to provide indication of dust emissions from cleaning pulses and to reliably monitor the performance of fabric filter dust collection equipment for applications requiring high accuracy and repeatability, in both on-line and off-line cleaning cycles.
The PCME LEAK LOCATE 660 can be configured to display either:
-
Emissions relative to a 'normal' level (for application only needing to monitor changes in emissions)
-
Bagfilter leakage and broken bags in addition to location of leaking bag row or chamber
-
Relative performance of each bag compartment
Therefore, for installations with multiple chambers on a single baghouse, dust levels can be compared between different emission points. The PCME LEAK LOCATE 660 uses an advance digital algorithm, which has sufficient processing power to provide good resolution to track dust pulses in bag cleaning systems which may require a dynamic range of up to 5,000:1 eg reverse jet or reverse flow cleaning systems. Sensitivities of < 0.1 mg/m3 ensure bag leak detection can be measured (small changes in background dust levels can indicate bag leakage).
Pulse Diagnostics Screen
The on-board pulse screen gives the advantage of offering an instantaneous view of the dust emissions of each of the chambers/compartments being cleaned. These can be viewed as bar graphs or an on-line trend graph for instant visualisation of dust trends, allowing operators to assess the relative efficiency levels of each row/chamber. This data is additionally stored in the pulse logger and can be reviewed at a later time period to compare cleaning cycles and thereby changing emissions between cleaning. By helping to identify leaking or faulty bags in specific chambers or compartments, the instrument pre-warns of failing or faulty bag media before the event.
Extended Velocity Range
The PCME LEAK LOCATE 660 uses unique ElectroDynamic™ Probe Electrification technology, which outperforms alternative probe electrification technologies by extracting a specific frequency band of the induced AC signal. This patented feature ensures confidence in accurate and representative data by eliminating any cross-sensitivity to changing flue gas velocity within typical bagfilter velocity ranges (8-20m/s) whilst maintaining stable, high resolution sensing characteristics.
Process Conditions
The PCME LEAK LOCATE 660 is suitable for:
-
Multi chamber bag filters, cartridge filters, cyclones
-
Constant or variable velocities within range 8-20m/s (typical bagfilter velocity ranges), constant velocity required outside this range
-
Non-condensing / dry flue gases*
-
Not suitable for electrostatic precipitators or applications with water droplets
* For wet / condensing flue gas applications see PCME STACK 181 WS
Typical Applications
The PCME LEAK LOCATE 660 is used to monitor emissions from the following types of processes:
-
Multi-compartment bag filter or cartridge filter abatement plant
-
Cement kiln abatement
