PCME launch a new range of QAL1 certified Continuous Particulate Emission Monitors using Backscatter technology


PCME Ltd, a global leading specialist in the development, manufacture and supply of continuous particulate emission and flow monitors, introduce a new range of Backscatter Particulate Emission Monitors designed to meet global demands for quality measurement in low to high dust concentrations.

Engineered with single side stack mounting and with full audit capability, the QAL 260 and QAL 360 range of instruments are ideally suited for measuring particulate in stacks typically found in Power, Incineration, Combustion, Cement and Steel Industries or processes containing hot or aggressive gases.

Utilising ProScatter™ Backscatter sensor technology with superior minimum detection of less than 1 mg/m³, both manual and remotely activated Zero and Span checks are available to ensure optimal instrument performance together with an automatic functionality check.  This fully interrogates the optical system to comply with EN 14181 and EN 13284-2.   In addition, the purge flow fail sensor option with inbuilt automatic optical shield activation protects the optics from the flue gas in the event of purge failure and the optional Flue Gas Blocker protects Site Operators from any harmful flue gasses during service and maintenance to provide site safety compliance.

Both instruments are certified to the latest European Standard, EN 15267-3 to meet QAL1 requirements as a PM CEM. The QAL 260 is certified to 0-15 mg/m³ and the QAL 360 to 0-7.5 mg/m³ range which meets the new tightened European minimum emission limit value of 5 mg/m³ for Large Combustion Plant as specified in the European Industrial Emissions Directive (IED).

Available as a “stand-alone” compact design sensor or as a “sensor/controller” system, both the QAL 260 and 360 sensors can be seamlessly connected into any existing PCME network system or connected directly as part of a CEM system including gas analysers.
